Match Reports 2010-11 Season

<BACK TO TOP>
2nd April 2011 -
Olney Ladies 1 Towcester 2
"One up -
one down"
Olney Ladies
gave everything in this final match of the season. Only a win or
draw would keep them in Division 1 - and Olney were inches away form
achieving this. Towcester finished the season top of the league but
Olney Ladies certainly made them work hard for their final win of
the season. And with this match Towcester go up and Olney go down.
Olney were unlucky - as they have been so many times this season. An
awesome team performance capped with e fantastic team goal - well
done Kazza for putting it in the back of the net! Cath did her usual
fantastic goalie impression - despite one of her own players trying
to lob her.
Man of the match
went jointly to our sweeper Steph and our striker Kazza.
Thanks for the
teas Serena. Thanks to those who supported the cause!
Olney know what
they have to do next season - bounce back into Division 1 - and so
from a season which saw many injuries and illnesses - a season when
we struggled to get 11 players some weeks - 2010-11 is complete.
The fat lady is
singing.....! See you at summer league!
Full match
report may follow.
26th March 2011 -
Olney Ladies 3 Saints 1
"Still one
match to go and Olney are hanging on!"
Olney Ladies
were strangely quiet today and Wildcatz capitalised on this. Olney
unlucky to be 2-0 down at half time - a questionable penalty awarded
against them, and a mix up in defence led to Wildcatz's 2.
Second half
Olney were better - and equal to Wildcatz - but they just couldn't
get the equaliser. At 2-1 Wildcatz got the crucial goal and Olney
finished on the wrong side of 3-1.
Goal scored by
Steph! Well done Steph. Man of the match - very even this week -
Steph and Emma winning on two votes each.
Full match
report may follow.
Still all to pay
for next week!

19th March 2011 -
Olney Ladies 3 Saints 1
"A vital
win to keep the Ladies on track!"
Olney Ladies
kept their focus #& their nerve this week to win against bottom of
the league Saints.
Goals went to
Karen (2), & Lindsey.
Full match
report to follow.
12th March 2011 -
Grammarians 2 Olney 7
"OMG - 7-2"
Olney Ladies
turned up to this match focussed on one thing - a win. And a win
they fully deserved. Wendy scored the first goal in 53 seconds....
and that set the scene for the first half.
Grammarians had
very few chances in the first half which ended 3-0.
Then Olney
seemed to switch off for 10 minutes and allow Grammarians back into
the match. At 3-2 the match was poised - who would get the next goal
- and Olney were THE team to score again and go on to win the game
7-2.
Goals went to
Karen (2), Emma (2), Lindsey (2) and Wendy.
Man of the Match
- to Ali - who took control of Grammarians potentially lethal centre
forward when in defence and pushed forward in attack as the extra
man. Well done Ali!

report may follow.

Rothwell and Desborough 1 Olney 5
"Elated"
A complete
reversal to last week. Well done ladies!-

26th February 2011 -
Rothwell and Desborough 3 Olney 1
"Gutted"
I can't remember
quite what happened in this match - we opened the scoring and then
we lost the match.... the quiet drink helped later though!
Lindsey - great
goal! Cath - some great saves! Shame about the weather, the early
start time and the goals that went in! But I'm getting over it!
The return match
is next week - same time - same place - let's hope the result is
different!

19th February 2011 -
Daventry 3 Olney 1
"Fairy
Saves ......."
A grey and cold
day to go up North to Daventry. Missing Captain Kazza Carrina took
over the captains reins & did a great job of getting 11 players to
play this Saturday with it being half term and many away. Olney knew
what to expect at Daventry and weren't disappointed. Angie took up
her usual position to threaten Cath in the Olney goal and Steff did
her utmost to stay with her - even with a bad back. Carrina and
Rachel took up their positions at the back and Di moved forward into
midfield alongside Serena and Emma. Lindsey and Wendy joined the
youngsters M-Amy and Katie at the front.
Olney struggled
to get going in the first 10 minutes and some sloppy play saw
Daventry awarded a short corner. Cath saved the initial shot but the
ball spun off her pads and in slow motion spun across the line -
evading the Olney sticks on the line. Galvanised by the goal Olney
seemed to wake up and take the match to Daventry and they were
rewarded 10 minutes later with Emma streaking down the left and
whipping in a cross which M-Amy deflected into the Daventry goal.
1-1 and Olney on top.
the second half
saw Davnetry re-arranging their players and their new tactics worked
- Ronnie joining Angie up front and putting the Olney defence under
more pressure. Olney had as much play as Daventry but could not
convert. Daventry had several shots miraculously saved by Cath - ask
her about her fairy save - but on two occasions caught the defence
out too far up the pitch to score.
As with last
week Olney felt they had done enough for a point so were
disappointed with the result.
The curry and
chips helped though - Thanks Daventry!
5th February 2011 -
Towcester 2 Olney 1
"Not a
million miles away......."
Olney travelled
to top of the table Towcester today - at a very windy Northampton
High School - wondering what the match would bring. And it nearly
brought an unexpected point ! Olney were unlucky to finish with
nothing to show after a gutsy battle against a very physical and
vocal Towcester team.
For the first 15
minutes Olney were the team on top. Towcester possibly making the
same mistake as Wildcatz and thinking the 'ladies' would be a
walk-over. But Towcester were the first to score a quick break after
an Olney attack saw the Olney defence stretched and the Towcester
Centre Froward muscled through to score. Olney though kept pressing
and they were finally rewarded with Katie knocking in a shot from
Kazza just before the break. 1-1 at half time and all to play for.
The second half
was very similar to the first - Towcester possibly having the upper
hand to start with but Olney having periods of possession showing
good team work. The Towcester keeper had a great game and
frustratingly kept Olney at bay. With 10 minutes to go Towcester
again on the break took their chance and made it 2-1. Olney
continued to push for the equalizer and came agonisingly close
during the last 5 minutes - the keeper making a string of fantastic
saves. When the whistle blew and Olney stood for a penalty corner -
the hope was that for once we would score on that final whistle -
but the luck went Towcester's way and Olney knew they were unlucky
to come away with nothing to show for their brave performance.
Once again the performance
this week belied Olney's league position.
Good to see Di
back - well done Di - a tough game to return to.
Goal scored by
Katie .
Thanks to Pete
again and the babysitters who allowed Linz to play!

29th January 2011 -
Olney Ladies 3 Wildcatz 1
"Wildcatz tamed......."
Olney were mean
and lean in this match. Captain Kazza had asked the team to use the
win the week before as a catapult - and Olney exceeded her
expectations. Pete turned up to motivate the team and the pre-match
talk was all about getting the first goal - and Olney did. A team
goal finished off by Kazza and Olney were off. The second goal - a
screamer from Emma was truly deserved before half time.
The half time
talk was all about keeping the width , keeping the speed and staying
organised . And Olney did just that. Wildcatz were more direct in
the second half and probably deserved their goal - even though Olney
questioned if it had been hit in the circle . But it only spurred
Olney on - and they were awarded a penalty after a wildcatz foot on
the line. Steph stepped up to convert . Her first goal for Olney!
The performance
this week showed what Olney can do - when they put it all together -
well done ladies.
Steph - a truly
magnificent sweeper this week - was
man of the match.
Goals scored by
Karen, Emma and Steph.
Thanks to Pete
for the motivation and organisation from the sideline.
Thanks to Jane
and Rhiannon for the support.
Thanks to Ali
for the teas.

report may follow.
22nd January 2011 -
Saints 0 Olney Ladies 1
Close Encounters of the hockey kind......."
Olney won this
bottom of the table game - but sailed close to the wind on several
occasions. Uo front Olney could have scored more but were thwarted
by the posts, the keeper and a few feet. Whilst at the other
end Saints were also thwarted by our keeper, the posts and a crucial
foot. Olneys goal was down to good team work and a great follow up -
scored by Kazza. Saints were awarded a flick in the first half but
luckily for Olney, and to a certain payers relief, Saints
missed. The score at half time 1 - 0.
Second half was
much of the same - Saints using their young legs and their speed -
Olney using their heads. As the match went on both sides came close
to scoring and it was very finely balanced - both attacks coming
within inches of a goal. But in the end it was the umpires who were
the most influential and the match was stopped on several
occasions to speak to players , coaches and the increasingly vocal
crowd. Olney were glad to hear the final whistle and mark a win in
the league.
Cath in goal was
man of the match - her many stops crucially giving the ladies the
win.
Goal scored by
Karen!

Olney Ladies 1 Daventry 7
" Life is like a
box of chocolates.....................it really is....but don't eat
too many"
2011 didn't
start too well for Olney Ladies - too many cobwebs and too much
baileys saw the ladies start slowly against a rampant Daventry. They
played much better in the second half but the damage had been done
and Olney could only enjoy the teas and not the scoreline.
Cath - Thanks
for the teas - and lovely cakes.
Di and Jenny -
Thanks for umpiring.

Olney Ladies 3 Grammarians 4
"One flew over
the cuckoos nest..."
After nearly a
month off due to ice and snow Olney went into their last match of
2010 with only 10 players - losing their eleventh player Di to be
the umpire.
Keen to rectify
the earlier defeat in the season - the match finished 4-3 once
again in Grammarians favour. but this time luckily Olney had
no injuries to report.
Goals to Katie
(2) and Kazza.

13th November 2010 -
Olney Ladies 0 Towcester IIs 8
'One half too
many'
Olney faced top
of the table Towcester today. With the season already hit by injury
and illness this was not a match for the faint hearted. As the match
went on the first aid bag saw as much of the game as in previous
matches - what with scuffs, grazes, cuts, ankles, knees and elbows
all being bandaged, taped or iced up.
The first half
saw the welcome return of Helena to the team. Her first outing this
season and didn't she do well at the back! Olney were solid in the
first 20 minutes - keeping Towcester at bay and threatening
themselves through Georgi and Karen. Cath though was being kept very
busy and her agility in the Olney goal frustrated the Towcester
attack. When their goal did come in the first half - it was through
the middle - direct and forceful, their centre forward shaking off
the tackles and the marking to get into the D - to get a show into
Cath's Right hand corner.
And 1-0 it
stayed until half time. Olney should pat themselves on the back for
their first half performance. It was not an easy half - very
physical and fast - and we had to make an enforced substitution with
Karen taking a nasty hit to the ankle. Luckily half time was near
and Karen managed to return to the fray during the second half -
although I don't think she felt 100%.
As the second
half wore on Olney were gradually beaten into submission and the
goals started going in. Helena and Jane both had to come off
injured, forcing Micaela onto the pitch for the first time this
season - Welcome back! The Olney team were pushed back into
defending as a team but again had a few flurries in front of the
Towcester goal - Georgi and Karen forcing the keeper to save.
Carrina struggled on with her knee and Karen with her ankle, and
Steph continued to give blood for the cause.
The match
finished 8-0 - perhaps unfair considering the balance of the first
half - but Olney could have done no more. Cath received praise from
the opposition after the match - fully deserved!
Let's hope with
a week off the injured have time to recover for our next match on
the 27th. Jood - I think you need to stock the first aid bag again!
What a season!
Thanks to the
supporters, Jenny for managing and Carrina for the teas
6th November 2010 -
Wilcatz 4 Olney Ladies 1
'The Last (or
Right) post'
Wildcatz arrived
early and at full strength. Kazza made a considered and encouraging
team talk, fully aware that the majority of her team were playing in
unfamiliar positions or playing with teamates that they were not
used to.
Both teams
started well, with good quality hockey from both sides although
Wildcatz had more of the possession, Olney concentrated and
communicated well to thwart any attacks. We opened the scoring
through a well worked goal finished by Katie.
Wildcatz uped
the pressure and quickly scored from a short corner on at the right
post! Their second goal was a replica of the first and when Olney
conceeded yet another short, Carrina was then seconded to right post
duty for yet another short corner. She was sacrificed to the cause
to keep the score to 2-1 for half time by blocking the shot with her
knee! Her game was over!
Wilcatz kept up
the pressure in the second half and Olney lost shape, and ideas for
sometime, and unfortunately conceded two more goals (from short
corners, at the right post!)
Olney picked it
up for the last ten minutes and showed some spirit and created some
chances however it was too little too late.
There is no
doubt that we missed Wendy and Georgi at the front and Di and Rachel
at the back (I'm sure that Rachel would not have conceded 4 on her
post!)
However on a
positive note we had 13 players, 5 supporters and two dogs on our
side! The three girls on the front line showed flashes of the
talent we know they have.
And spare a
second or two after you have paid your silent tribute to those that
have laid down their lives for us on November 11th at 11am, for
those Olney players who have sacrificed bits of fingers, bones,
being able to stand up straight and walk up stairs unaided for the
sake of Olney ladies! I know I will and I will be praying for no
more injuries and a return from no mans land for those players who
have forgotten us!
MOTM went to
Kazza for never giving up (well only for a little while) and Steph
for only falling over 7 or 8 times!
Just hope we
can get our strength back and support Karen for the remainder of the
season, we are losing games that we could easily win.
Come on you
Olney Rangers.
23rd October 2010 - Olney Ladies 3
Saints III's 0
'Green Card'
Olney Ladies
were determined to shake off the injuries of last week and get some
points on the board this week. Kazza had done a great job getting 13
players on paper with regulars Georgi, Carrina, Rachel and Di
all unavailable - however Jenny ended up umpiring (Thanks Jenny) and
Jood2 came in for the unwell Jane at the last minute (Thanks !)
so again Olney were nearly down to the bare bones again before the
start (not literally but you know what I mean!).
And this week as
last week Olney gave blood for the result - Harriet taking the ball
unexpectedly on the chin and then having to ransack the first aid
kit for some plasters. Luckily this week with 12 players it meant
Olney kept 11 on the pitch although by the time Harriet had gone
off, the victory was secure.
Olney took their
time to score in the first half - and were unlucky that it was only
2-0 at half time. Both goals (I think) down to Kazza. Some great
team work involved. Shot after shot reigned in and the Saints'
keeper was the only thing between Olney and double figures! The half
time talk must have been to keep the work rate up and the goals
would come. Cath in goal had been a mere spectator in the first
half.
Second half
though Saints came out more organised and more determined. Lindsey
was given a run about at the back - following her player all over
the pitch. Again as in so many matches when the opposition breached
our defence Cath was there and it is true to say Cath saved at least
two definite goals . She also gave us the laugh of the afternoon
when she air kicked at the ball! I think she meant to - but many
didn't!
Olney Ladies 3rd
goal came after a bizarre booking for an Olney player. Mild mannered
Amy was summoned to the umpire after an innocuous incident off the
ball. We wondered if she'd sworn at the umpire (!)- but she was
warned for pushing or 'shoving' her opposition and green carded. As
Amy had put up with this all afternoon she was a little surprised at
her warning! But she answered it in the best way - scoring to make
it 3-0 - finishing off an excellent sweeping move up the right wing
involved Katie and Kazza.
It was good to
see and hear the support from the sideline - Micaela, Becky ,
Rachel and Di all shouting words of encouragement and Pete's input
was a bonus on an afternoon when Olney were the team on top. Lots of
positives from the match to take forward to training and to the next
match - not least the three points and the evident great team
work and spirit!

Grammarians 4 Olney Ladies 3
' or A&E 2 Olney 0.....'
Commentary from
Carrina: "
It was a day of
carnage, Di had the top of her finger chopped off in an early tackle
and had to go to hospital! We couldn't find the missing piece so
she will be forever short of finger.
That left us
with 10!
Rachel was
thwacked on the foot! Hobbled off, she went to hospital later and
has a broken toe and 6 weeks on crutches!
So a game that
we played with 11, then 10 then 9, ended in a 4-3 defeat! We tried
hard, were ahead, played some good stuff in patches, and Georgi
scored a wonder goal!
Goals to Karen,
Wendy and Georgi - many saves went to Cath!

9th October 2010 - Olney Ladies
4 Rothwell and Desborough 5
'Five little pigs went
to market.....'
Commentary from
Jane: "Well what a thrilling evening i had!! i was watching Olney
Ladies put in a sterling performance against Rothwell & Desborough,
I was viewing with Ange Bartlett, and it was like going back in time
with Andy pants umpiring with his woodwork teacher glasses on and
good old Bert. Andy greeted all the players with a warning about the
new yellow card that he wanted to issue if at a free hit the other
team hadn't moved back 5 yards or whatever it is, then if you try
and tackle, you can get a yellow card.
With assistant
umpires being Kath in the middle and another couple of R & D players
with attitude. Olney had a very lucky first half, cos everytime R
& D shot of goal they missed and every time Olney had a short
corner, they scored!!!! (Cath did make some great saves and Rachel
made a great save, if only she knew it!).
By half time
Olney were winning 3 - 2 R & D must have had a good half time
tussle, cos they came back more determined to take on Olney players
and with some players in different positions. Wendy was doing a
great job in the middle getting in a few stick tackles, but still
Kath and a mate got through!!!! this was annoying Steff who was
annoyed with herself for most of the game (Andy had to tell her that
if she wanted to stay on pitch, she had better watch it) Carrina
and Rachel worked hard to protect our D by this time we were losing
5 - 3, Olney went onto to score another in the last 2 - 3 minutes
and right near the end we missed our chance to equalise.
Katie and Ness
provided good support up front and Jood & Ali had their work cut out
on wings (i was getting worried when i saw them getting knocks, by
this time i had pack my stick away). Georgie got a hatrick and Kazza
got the other one. final score 5 - 4, what was most surprising that
Caff and Steph thought it was 4 - 4, until we told them at tea that
we had actually lost, not sure what they were doing when the last
goal had gone in!!!
The moral of the
story is training has paid off practising the new short corners.
(this isn't the
official match report, just what i saw)."
Thanks to Ness
and Mum for the teas!

2nd October 2010 -
Daventry 3 Olney Ladies 0
'Three little pigs'
Olney travelled
to Daventry this week and for a frustrating match against league
rivals Daventry. Olney spent the majority of the match camped in
their defensive area and when they did manage to break free the
forwards created two good chances to score but were unable to
convert them into goals.
Di Graham was
given to task of marking Daventry’s marks woman, Angi Bartlett, Angi
is consistently the highest goal scorer in the league year on year
and can score with her back to goal given half an inch. Di kept Angi
in her sights throughout the first half but the Daventry striker did
have two clear shots on goal which she fired wide on both occasions
letting Olney off the hook.
Caff Woods is an
‘awesome goal keeper’ according to Zoe (Daventry) Caff was always
positioned in the right place at the right time during the first
half she saved with her feet, her hands and her chest pad holding
off the Daventry attacks with the help of Steph and Harriet Ewing in
defence.
The difficulty
for Olney, came in getting the ball away their own D and as the
forwards became more and more restless they ‘came back to help’
which meant that for much of the time the play was concentrated in
the Olney half never allowing the defenders a moments relief.
For all the huff
and puff though, neither team would break through during the first
frustrating half, Olney broke away once and Captain Kazza went clean
through on goal but fired agonisingly wide.
A group of local
youths took up camp in the corner of Daventry’s half of the pitch
and frankly would have been quite safe during the first half,
however Jill Leopard saw fit to frighten them away with her
especially scary umpiring shorts, the Daventry Massive were a
quaking as Jill strode towards them all whistle and waistband.
In the second
half Serena Van de Hyde and Wendy Haslam ground out more chances to
recycle the ball and Olney did create more attacks. Katie ‘Peng’
Barber and Vanessa Wilson kept to their wings and pounced on every
chance to push forward.
Player of the
match for Olney; Caff Woods
had kept goal brilliantly and kept Olney in with a chance for forty
five minutes of the match but Olney could not keep the ball away
from Daventry long enough to build confidence or create many
chances, it was not for want of trying though. Steph slipped
over five
or six times in her eagerness to tackle the opposition, she
resembled Bambi on more than one occasion.
In the end
though the sustained pressure on Olney goal proved too much and
Daventry scored, Olney rallied briefly with Ali Woodward pulling her
weight and a muscle in the process, Jude Tetlow was sandwiched
between two of the opposition and hyper-extended her shoulder joint,
bringing a sore end to her impressive performance and bringing on
Jenny Harris as super sub.
Jenny’s entrance
to the match saw Daventry, moments later, scoring a quite brilliant
goal ‘I was nowhere near it’ said Jenny, the celebrations from
Daventry’s KB left her prone on the ground in agony having,
apparently, torn a tendon...’I was nowhere near her’ said Jenny, who
was nearest to KB at the time.
KB was carried
off, Daventry scored again and we all retired to the working men’s
club for beer, beans chips and sausage.
It was great to
see Bird on the sideline piling on the encouragement and Vanessa’s
Granny and Aunt who had flown in from Texas to watch.

18th Sep 2010 -
Olney Ladies 14 Rushden and Higham 0 (Friendly)
'Let them eat cake'
Olney enjoyed a
goal fest against training ground rivals Rushden this week.
Olney fielded
another new player at left back this week, Carina’s friend making
her first appearance and she looked like she is going to be very
useful on the pitch with a bit more practise, off the pitch she
washed up without being asked so she can definitely come again.
Olney proved far
too good for their opponents from the start, they were three goals
up after ten minutes, I have no idea who scored or in what order as
I was at the back trying to keep Cath awake in goal. Rushden had
only ten players at this point and so Jenny Harris offered to switch
sides in a bid to even things up but, luckily for Jenny, another
Rushden player turned up, unluckily for Rushden Harris went back on
up front for Olney and bagged a brace of goals.
Prior to the
match Keeper Caff had been seeking advice on how to dive but the
only additional skill she needed in this match was perhaps two match
sticks to prop open her eye lids, Rushden just did not threaten the
Olney gaol once with any menace.
Not sure what
the score was at half time might have been 6, 7 or 8 nil ....Georgie
Ward nipped off to text Kazza the good news and Carrina Pinney
stepped up and advised that the Olney squad to use the second half
to practise some training ground moves.
When Olney
remained in formation and attacked with pace they were simply
unstoppable, some swift passing and good movement off the ball from
Ali Woodward, Carrina Pinney and Steph enabled the O’s to create
many more goals. Wendy Haslam scored a handful before retiring to
the back to allow Di Graham a little foray up front. It was
brilliant to welcome back Serena after a nasty injury, she told me
she was not too fit before the game, Oh that I was that unfit, she
ran and ran and ran and kept the middle of the pitch very much
covered throughout.
The two wingers
Jood Tetlow and Vanessa Wilson worked very hard throughout and were
involved in setting up the majority of the goals. Vanessa and Di
Graham, if anything, were trying too hard to get onto the score
sheet but it was not to be. Steph looked much more comfortable this
week and made the most of the space and time she was allowed to
break down Rushden attacks and support the Olney forwards.
With two minutes
to play Rushden broke away and were awarded a penalty stroke.
Keeper, Caff Woods had to be woken up by her team mates to face the
penalty, but in the end she probably could have saved it in her
sleep as the hapless Rushden captain pushed the ball lamely straight
at Caff’s feet, sort of summed up Rushden’s day.
Rushden were
sporting in defeat and kept going until the final whistle put them
out of their misery.
Olney learnt
that if they pass the ball accurately and with pace and work hard
they can score some very good goals, but they will have to play like
this with consistency over the season, because they face much
tougher opposition in the league this season.
The Olney Goal
Cake was cut fourteen ways
Captain
Georgi Ward had
her cake and ate it with six slices and player of the match
to cap off a good game.
Wiley Wendy
Halsam grabbed five slices of goal cake leaving two slices for Jenny
Harris (who told her family that she scored two and Olney won 2-0,
because it sounded more impressive) than Ali Woodward had the last
slice but Keeper Caff still took the cherry by keeping another clean
sheet.

Bedford 0 Olney Ladies 3 (Friendly)
'Mother of a Match'
Olney stated off
the new season with a friendly match against Bedford Wendy Haslam
brought along her daughter Martha to play for the O’s and Jood
Tetlow’s daughter, Laura, was playing for the opposition.
Olney fielded a
fair side welcoming new play Steph who came on after fifteen minutes
slotted in nicely in the midfield and stayed on for the rest of the
game ending up at right back, being warned by old head Harris ‘not
to look too good in defence’.
Steph
might find herself as a permanent fixture at the back, she showed
some great tackling skills and distributed the ball smartly
considering it was her first game she made a good impression
claiming joint
player of the match for Olney as well.
The play
switched from end to end in the first half with either side looking
dangerous when attacking, Caff Woods had to make a couple of saves
at one point the ball hit the post ricocheted onto Caff’s heel and
off the back line, this was the closest Bedford came to scoring.
Amy was looking
lovely until she was hit on the head and had to sit out the rest of
the game. Georgi Ward opened her account for the season, calmly
ignoring Wendy Haslam’s claim on the ball she fired home after
Captain Kazza set up the chance.
The other
player of the match for Olney was
Jenny
Harris
who played at left back for the entire match making a couple of
strong runs carrying the ball up to the oppositions D whilst keeping
the Bedford centre forward quiet for the entire match. To cap off
her impressive performance Harris was not heard to complain once. Di
Graham swept well , at one point deciding to ‘defend’ in the Bedford
half, Di looked as formidable as ever, now she is a full time
student she comes at half the price too.
Jood Tetlow
locked onto her daughter like a missile; Laura had been on the pitch
but a minute when she was assaulted from behind by her own mother.
Jood continued in this vein for the rest of the match practically
barging past other Olney players in order to tackle her off spring.
Laura was later to brag of ‘skilling up ‘her Ma ....their journey

Martha Halsam
purchased a new a gum shield in order to play the second half and
she looked a chip off the old block .Old Ma Halsam set up her
daughter two or three times and Martha looked very comfortable on
the wing ( hurry up and grow up please Martha)
The O’s second
goal came from Wendy Haslam after Kazza Murdoch charged up the wing
and crossed the ball for Wendy to tuck home. With fifteen minutes
left on the clock Katie ‘Peng’ Barber pounced at the far post to
fire in a third goal and complete a comfortable win for Olney.
