The Squad

Player
Profiles 2009-10
Lindsey 'The Bird' Bain
(in the arse!) - Chairwoman who never says no to a pint or two.
Great support striker - known to get a goal or two of her own or if
not claim them. Looking SO good playing the new rules!
Karen ‘Gaffer’ Murdoch
- Strong left winger with an eye for goal and lethal from 1
yard. Highest goal scorer in Division 2 last season (got lots of
tap-ins). Gobby good time girl – ‘rewarded’ by being made Team
Captain this year! Players Player of 2008-09.
Jenny 'Call me Angie' Harris
- Team Manager. A force to be reckoned with both on and off the
field of play. Impressed the squad in the last year with her new
fitness regime. Will know the new rules inside out!
Jane 'Mrs Dip' D'Ippolito –
Our Club Captain. A fearless defender, good at stopping shots on the
line, and very good at celebrating stopping them. Looking forward
(we hope!) to the season in Division 1 and the new rules!!
Carrina 'Apron' Pinney
- Left Midfielder, who
can shout an awful lot and motivate the team so logically put in
charge of tea stuff this year. Led the team to the top of Division 2
and therefore promotion last year. Sportswoman of the year 2008-09.
Very excited by the new rules this season!
Caff 'Twin' Woods
- Awesome defender with the hardest hit on the team and who has been
known to score. She hits the bud as hard as she hit's the ball. In
charge of when we play and who we play as fixtures secretary. Lost
last season to injury so we're looking forward to seeing her on the
pitch again - and in GOAL!. “New rules? What new rules?”
Helena 'Mutant' Schofield
- Fearless midfielder, often leaves the pitch red-faced and like
she been on a battlefield. In charge of our bibs and balls as well
as loads of kids. Mystified by the new rules so far!
Micaela 'Boney' Moroney
- Another top defender, who's been out with an injury for some time,
it will be good to get her back on the pitch this year; if not, in
goal! Yes - Micaela - on the pitch!
Rachel ‘Meerkat’ Alcock
- Right back who reads the game well (if she's wearing her
glasses!). Has a tendency to get lost on pitch and shout 'Watchit!'
- but we're not always sure what we should watch. A little worried by
her interpretation of the new rules!
Wendy 'Don’ Haslam -
Top striker, can run rings around most of us (as long as she has the
ball at her stick, she's rubbish at running otherwise!). Likes to
delegate and has been known to go it alone! Hopes to challenge Karen
for top goal scorer this year. If not – will claim the assists!
Jood 'Helmut' Tetlow
- Versatile player, but really likes to play on the wing, bags of
energy and fun. Our first aid specialist who is hoping she’s not
called on this year and hopes the recent close encounter between the
ball and her nose is the only close encounter for this season. Most experienced player with the new rules!
Di 'U-No-Me' Graham
- Attacking defender who still has the best tackle! Has been known
to go ‘walkabout’ on pitch. She's the 'Darjeeling' of the team who
knows the new rules inside out!
Serena 'Dangerous Sister' Von der Heyde
- Central Midfielder, extremely fit and committed player (when
she's in the country and when she’s not skiing or running!)
Alison 'Buzz' Woodwards
- Another fit and committed midfielder – when she can get to play!
Worn out by the time she arrives to play as she’s in charge of
finding our umpires for each game – not a job to be envied!
Avril 'Pancake' Soman
- A reverse stick specialist and probably our most technically
gifted player . Leads the team choir in their singing! Looking
forward to the battle in Division 1. Bring it On!
Georgi 'Closer' Ward
– Joined in 2008/9 as a central midfield or attacker and was quick
to become a regular member of the team. Second highest scorer in
Division 2 last year and joint ‘Most Improved player of 2008-9.
Challenging ‘Caff’ for the title of ‘hardest hitter’ on the team and
our newly crowned Captain of Vice this year.
Harriet 'Miss Ellie' Ewing
– Another player who joined 2008-9. Left sided defender or
midfielder, she slotted in so well that it seems like she has always
been there. Joint ‘Most Improved player of 2008-9. Getting to grips
with the new rules!
Katie 'Jedward' Barber –
One of our juniors. Fits in well in attack and midfield. Gaining
confidence by the game; proper peng! A facebook activist and joint
‘Most Improved player of 2008-9!
Vanessa 'VW' Wilson
- Another of our juniors who looks good on either Wing. Has a wicked
hit and developing the pace of a GTi!
Alice 'Run-around' Testa
- Another junior, looking great on the wing and in attack. Following
in Mums footsteps - if a little embarrassed at times – by Mum! Our
Treasurer this year.
Kirstie 'II' Pearson
- looking forward to playing more this season after completing in
the Great North Run in October 2009 (AGAIN! Yes – Mad for it!). A
tour specialist!
Devon 'Lightning' Byrne -
new Junior for 2009. Showing great promise and scoring some great
goals. Looking forward to seeing her pace on the pitch again this
season in Division 1.
Jude 'Pooh-Bag' Pemberton -
new Vet who joined in 2009. Showing great promise and stopping some
great goals. Don’t ask her to empty her pockets though you might not
like what you find. Knows nothing about the new rules – YET!
Kirsty 'III' Heeler
–A new player for 2009/10 and a GOALIE! Welcomed with open arms by
the team and finding her feet already this season!
Suzanne 'Baileys' MacManus
– Yet another new player for 2008/9, with a firm tackle and good eye
for the ball. A welcome addition to the squad – when she can get
away from the family – to be sure!
Amy 'Marge' Owen
– Yet another junior with potential on the forward line. Hope to see
more of her this season.
Kirsty ‘AAAA' Rice
- fantastic goalkeeper, but limited to a few guest appearances as
she's now at Uni in London!
Jane ‘Not so little now’ Gibb
– Can still be drawn back occasionally to play some quality hockey
with OLHC! Even if it’s the summer league. Yeah right!
Tamsin 'Even More Dangerous Sister' Martin
- Serena's running partner and other dangerous pastimes. Great
right winger with a hard shot and an eye for goal. Greatly missed in
the last two seasons.
Pauline 'now you see me'
- Xmas 2008 only. Seen once or twice hanging around - but keeps
herself to herself.
Pete
– our new coach for 2009-10 – too soon for any comments or
nicknames. Watch this space!
